Project Tadcaster
LUMATERRA · PROJECT TADCASTER · SEPTEMBER 2026
A building with a story.
A vision taking shape.
We are exploring whether the former bank at 32 Bridge Street could become a Lumaterra wellbeing hub, and how new life in this building might contribute to Tadcaster’s town centre.

Why Tadcaster?
Lumaterra began with an idea for a calm, welcoming place where people could make time for their wellbeing. Tadcaster offered an opportunity to think about that idea in the heart of an established town, in a building with a strong presence on the street.
As we spent time around Bridge Street, the project grew beyond the rooms inside one property. We began asking how careful restoration, local activity and a thoughtful visitor experience might also support the surrounding area. That remains an ambition we are testing, rather than an outcome we can promise.

From possibility to inspection
Early conversations led us to study the former bank more closely. In September we moved into practical evaluation: looking at the building itself, its access, room layout and the work that might be needed to adapt it for a wellbeing use.
During the site visit on 24 September, we recorded measurements and images of the entrance, internal routes and available spaces. Those records help us check whether people and equipment could move safely through the building, and which questions require specialist advice.

Reading the building room by room
The former banking layout has character and variety. The ground floor suggests potential for a welcoming arrival, while other rooms offer different possibilities for quiet, private experiences. The strongroom is one of the unusual features we explored, though no final use has been assigned to it.
We also followed the rear route and looked across the upper floors. Some spaces clearly need more investigation and restoration planning. Photographs and video preserve what we saw at this stage; they do not replace structural, fire safety, access or services assessments.

Walk through the inspection
Selected silent excerpts from the 24 September 2026 walkthrough. The footage shows the entrance, internal routes and upper rooms. It is an early record of the building, not a finished design or a safety certification.
What happens next?
We are continuing to test the practical and commercial case for a Tadcaster hub. That includes access, building condition, appropriate permissions, the proposed layout and the scale of any restoration. We will share meaningful progress as those pieces become clearer.
There has been no final commitment to acquire or occupy 32 Bridge Street. The images show a possible future home for Lumaterra at an early evaluation stage.
